A reminder to join the AHAA Virtual Internship Program for Fall 2020 by Sunday, August 30th! Please feel free to pass along this email to colleagues and spread the word about the program. Supervisors and interns do NOT have to be AHAA members to join the program. Details about how to participate are listed below.

Following the success of the AHAA Summer 2020 Virtual Museum Internship Program, we have decided to extend into the fall semester. AHAA board members Jayme Yahr (Crocker Art Museum, California) and Jeff Richmond-Moll (Georgia Museum of Art) will facilitate an informal fall working group of museum colleagues on how to manage interns virtually. This group will meet once per month so that internship supervisors can share information and strategies. We will also plan structured, thematic, online talks for interns led by a member of the working group once every 2-3 weeks (on topics such as networking, tips for digitally-based research, and job hunting). In addition, we will host a shared resource folder for supervisors and virtual opportunities for interns to share thoughts and questions amongst themselves.

WHEN: The program will run mid-September through early December 2020

WHO: Museum colleagues directly managing interns fully or partially online during fall 2020

PARTICIPATION: If interested please submit the following to jyahr@crockerartmuseum.org by Sunday, August 30, 2020:

  • Supervisor name

  • Supervisor email address

  • Number of interns supervisor will oversee

  • Dates of internship

  • Name of intern(s)

  • Intern(s) email address(es)

  • Suggested conversation topic for supervisor check-in and/or intern talk

If you have questions, do be in touch with Jayme and/or Jeff at the email address(es) below. We look forward to hearing from you!

All the best,

Jayme Yahr and Jeff Richmond-Moll
