Austen Barron Bailly Named New Co-Executive Editor of Panorama

Panorama, journal of the Association of Historians of American Art, is delighted to announce that Austen Barron Bailly is joining its team as Executive Editor for a three-year term, beginning immediately.
Austen received her PhD in Art History from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is currently The George Putnam Curator of American Art at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts, having served previously at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She was lead curator for American Epics: Thomas Hart Benton and Hollywood, which debuted at the PEM in 2015 before traveling to the Nelson-Atkins Museum, the Amon Carter Museum, and the Milwaukee Art Museum, and she is currently co-curator of Jacob Lawrence: The American Struggle, which will open at the PEM in 2020 before traveling to the Metropolitan Museum, the Birmingham Museum, the Seattle Art Museum, and the Phillips Collection.
Austen, who has recently completed a term as Chair Emerita of AHAA, is a strong supporter of Panorama and looks forward creating more space and visibility for museum-based initiatives and scholarship in the journal.
