Acknowledgements

For over a decade Jeffrey Weidman (M.A., Ph.D., M.L.S., Senior Librarian for Public Services and Collection Development at the Spencer Art Reference Library at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri) has been compiling and organizing website addresses for over 320 subject categories, accumulating more than 14,000 sites for the staff of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Moreover, he has generously shared this extraordinary resource, via a word file, with an international selection of art librarians, art historians, scholars and interested individuals. In anticipation of the 2009 reopening of the American art galleries at the Nelson-Atkins, an abridged version of Jeffrey’s immense database was created, which focused on sites related to American art before 1945. Now, Jeffrey has enthusiastically agreed to share this material with his fellow AHAA members. His intellectual gift is one that will grow and evolve as scholars offer additions and revisions. This open-ended and dynamic partnership among AHAA members and others promises to foster collegiality and intellectual exchange thanks to the commitment of a devoted scholar. AHAA also owes a debt of gratitude to Marilyn Carbonell, Head of Library Services at the Spencer Art Reference Library, who graciously endorsed the Weidman/AHAA collaboration.
