We invite you to join our collegial international community of scholars by becoming a member of AHAA. Our organization seeks to develop a lively, accessible forum for the exchange of information and ideas on American art and culture.

Founded in 1979, the Association of Historians of American Art (AHAA) promotes scholarship on art of the United States from the European encounter with Native peoples to contemporary practice.

AHAA provides a forum for presenting and advancing new approaches to American art; for examining problems that confront the field; and for identifying scholarly needs and opportunities to its members. The organization fulfills these goals through its annual meeting and biennial symposia, along with its e-journal Panorama, website, and quarterly e-newsletter.

AHAA is a membership organization and an affiliated society of
CAA—Advancing Art & Design.
